Retreat Orientation (Friday night)

Please join us Friday after dinner in the North Wing of the lodge for a mandatory orientation session — even if you have been to Breitenbush before. You’ll meet your fellow retreat guests, get an overview of the weekend and recent changes at Breitenbush, register for classes (if spaces remain) and more.

The Rebirth of Breitenbush (Saturday Night)

Hear about the rebirth of Breitenbush and surrounding forests after the 2020 wildfire, what the community is doing to rebuild and replant, what their vision is for the future, and how friends of Breitenbush can be involved — with Peter Moore. Peter was a co-founder of Breitenbush Hot Springs in 1978 and has been its business director since 2004. He has seen the retreat grow from an isolated work camp in the wilderness to a retreat and conference center with worldwide reach. A marvelous storyteller, Peter’s talks elegantly interweave a rich sense of history and anthropology, a wise understanding of human behavior and community dynamics, and a deep and loving knowledge of Breitenbush’s ecology and geology. Peter lectures around the world on the past, present, and future of holistic retreats.

Yoga Classes

Free yoga classes will be offered in the North Wing of the lodge. Schedule TBD.

Watsu

Watsu sessions will be in the first Meadow Pool. Sign-up will be available on a first come, first served basis in the lodge right after orientation on Friday night. $60 for a 30-minute session. Bring cash or check to pay the practitioner directly at the time of your session. A swimsuit is required.

HIKING

Due to damage from the wildfires of 2020, the National Forest trails accessible directly from Breitenbush are not open to hikers. However, there are other walking/hiking opportunities in the area (PDF), including Forest Service roads you can walk along from the grounds and hikes you can drive to within an hour.

Bonfire (Sunday Night)

Meet us on the floodplain by the river and under the stars — everyone is welcome. Bring a musical instrument if you wish.
