In this class, you will learn techniques to help your clients move more freely and with less pain. This is a San Francisco fusion of diverse concepts and techniques for recovery from low back injuries. The class will feature a hybrid approach that blends deep structural work for the low back and hips, passive range of motion for the hips, and specific deep tissue techniques for the psoas. We will also include a movement and vitality examination from a Chinese Medicine point of view. (The instructor is a licensed acupuncturist and tui na practitioner).

We will start with side-lying structural work designed to promote movement and to further evaluate any injuries or restrictions. We will then focus on a unique and effective way of releasing the psoas, which is highly beneficial for the client. The work is deep and slow, and it can be done draped, undraped or through light clothing.

Using passive range of motion is a simple and profound way to help the body “let go,” both mentally and physically. Often people are holding tension patterns on an unconscious level. This exercise helps repattern the brain, allowing for greater freedom of movement, as well as potentiating the bodywork.

Low back and hip pain is a common and vexing complaint. This series of techniques has helped hundreds (if not thousands) of patients in the Bay Area over the last 25 years. By combining precise massage, passive range of motion and structural bodywork, clients often experience relief from pain and greater freedom of movement.

Mask policy: Surgical masks are optional.
